Call for Altar Builders 

Santa Ana and greater Orange County communities, take part in this unforgettable festival by participating as an altar builder!  Build an altar dedicated to a loved one or to bring awareness to a social issue.

Space is still available!

Altar Building Guidelines

Altar building begins at 12pm on Saturday, November 5th , at  the Santa Ana Artists Village on 2nd Street  between Sycamore and Main (Map It), Space will be given on a first come first serve basis. Cars must enter Sycamore from 3rd St. during the hours of 12pm-4pm.  Please sign in at the Information Booth upon arrival.

 Please read the following instructions:

v      No Halloween / Gothic / New Age altars     

v     Space allotted per altar – 4 X 6 foot area (for size adjustments, please contact Andrea) 

v     Votive candles only  

v     Each altar must provide a fire extinguisher OR one bucket of water and one bucket of sand as a fire precaution 

v     Once the altar candles are lit, the altar must have an attendant present at all times 

v     Due to unexpected wind, please place heavy materials on altar e.g.: weights, rocks, glass weights, heavy coins, etc.

v     Other items you may want to bring: 

- Tables (folding, nightstands, wood constructions) for your base

- Base covering (cloth or plastic material)

- Boxes/cardboard boxes for levels

- Flowers, symbolic items (photos, statues, toys, ephemera, etc)

- Glass encased candles (for illumination)  

v     All altars must be disassembled at 10pm 

v     El Centro Cultural de México cannot be held responsible or store any artwork after 10pm.  Any unclaimed work will become property of El Centro Cultural de México
